What is Forensic Engineering?
Forensic Engineering involves the investigation, testing, and analysis to determine the cause of a building problem. Our engineering staff utilizes their specialized and comprehensive knowledge of deterioration mechanisms, behavior of construction materials, construction methods, and repair procedures to isolate the cause of a building problem as well as to prepare the most suitable solution to a building problem.
Forensic Engineering Services
Buildings Consulting Group, Inc. provides forensic engineering services to assist entities that design, construct, own, insure, consult, and/or litigate a building problem. The breadth and depth of experience of our engineering staff results in tailored professional investigations and straight-forward answers/solutions to a building problem. Some of the Forensic Engineering Services we provide include:
- Assessment of damage from various sources to structural systems, façade systems, roof systems, components/claddings, bulk water control, flashing, and fenestration.
- Specialized evaluations regarding various sources of potential damage, such as, but not limited to: soil/structure interaction, hail/wind damage; deflection/collapse; earth-/air-borne vibrations; detailing/flashing of building systems; debris/vehicle/tree impact; and natural disasters.
- Building commissioning assistance regarding structural systems, façade systems, components/claddings, bulk water control, flashing, and fenestration.
- Engineering review and analysis of documents prepared by design professionals, contractors, consultants, etc. that address causation and/or extent of damage.
- Litigative support services.
